Paint atomization is the process of using compressed air to break up paint such as you find a paint spray gun. A spray gun breaks up not only the paint, but also other products such as:
- Primer
- Sealer
- Paint
- Clear
The spray gun breaks up these products into small particles and then lies places them in little rows on the area you are spraying.
Two items that you must have to help with this process are:
Solvent can be any of the items listed above or an item the manufacture has asked you to add. Remember to mix in the correct ratios on the instruction sheet. The thinner you get the product the more break up you will receive. You need to work on getting a better balance.
Too much solvent can cause:
- No body
- No fill
- No durability
Too much air can cause:
- blowing the paint everywhere
- Poor adhesion
- Excessive texture
